Kerr's victims at this point in the investigation have been boys ranging in age from 3 to about 6 or 7 years old. We still believe several additional charges will result from our continuing investigation." Body is that of missing girl DUMAS (AP) Desha County officials said Tuesday that a body discovered in the woods east of Dumas during the weekend was that of a girl missing since calling her parents Aug.

Crowder had told her mother she would walk to a gas station after leaving her car along the highway. Crowder had been visiting her boyfriend at Pickens before setting out for home early Aug.

State sees slight increase in revenues in August Arkansas ended the previous fiscal year with a $402.7 million surplus, the largest in the state's history. Revenue officials have projected a $234.5 million surplus for the end of this fiscal year.

That, plus surplus money left over from 2005 and 2006, would give the state a total projected surplus of roughly $721 million. Gov. Mike Huckabee, who has called for legislators to use the surplus for rebates, said he was pleased with the latest revenue figures but stopped short of calling for additional tax relief. "This is a good report from the standpoint that it's right on forecast. I'm encouraged to see strength in sales tax revenues," Huckabee said in an e-mail.

"There is nothing in the immediate future that would indicate anything other than confidence in our forecast." lections for the month totaled $14.6 million, a decrease of $6.9 million or 32.2 percent over last year. Corporate tax collections were $9.8 million or 203 percent above forecast. Revenue officials said the decline by caused by nonrecurring gains in last year's August collections and said the impact was predicted in their forecast. John Shelnutt, administrator of economic analysis and tax research for the finance department, said gross receipts are the only revenue figure that are showing an indication of a slowdown. Shelnutt said other indicators such as housing and vehicle sales show that state revenues are slowing down.

"Let's put it this way: we're not at double-digit on gross receipts Shelnutt said. "That's coming "back to normal." year ago a 1 percent increase. Revenues were $16.6 million, or 5 percent, higher than originally forecast. Individual income tax collections for the month totaled $151.1 million, a decrease of $1.1 million or 0.7 percent over last year. The collections are $4.4 million lower than forecast, a 2.8 percent decrease.

Revenue officials blamed the decrease on a shift in income tax withholding payments compared with last month and last year. Weiss said August collections were partially offset by a double-digit percentage gain in July's collections. Gross receipts collections totaled $189.2 million, an increase of $9.1 million or 5.1 percent over last year. Collections were above forecast levels by $4.4 million or 2.4 percent Corporate income tax col LITTLE ROCK (AP) -Arkansas experienced a slight bump in state revenues in August, and state revenue offi- rials on Tuesday warned that the state's growth appears to be slowing down. The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration reported that revenues for August were above last year and above their predictions.

"I think it's pretty much on target," said Richard Weiss, the department's director. "There were no real huge surprises in there for us." Net available revenue for. the year-to-date totaled $722.6 million, up $77.9 million from last year, a 12.1 percent increase. The year-to-date figures are $20.4 million, or nearly 3 percent, higher than what revenue officials originally forecast. For.

Winton said no one reported hearing gunshots. Winton said it appeared that someone fired a gun from outside the theme park and the bullet hit the child as it was falling. Winton said the bullet came from a gun that was fired at an angle. The bullet, which did not fully penetrate the child's wrist, had slowed down significantly from the speed at which it was fired, Winton said. A .22 caliber bullet travels at approximately 1,100 feet per second when fired, he said.

"It wasn't fired straight up in the air, but it has to come down somewhere," Winton said. Dan Aylward, Magic Springs president and general manager, said the victim received treatment from on-site emergency medical technicians. No one else was said. freak accident," Winton said.
