I would like to have a series on the Adams families. I don't always agree with the information printed in this column as far as genealogy but that's how I get the right answers. Please let me know if information is incorrect or give suggestions. And if you have questions, feel free to submit them. I don't publish all questions as space prevents me doing so.

I pass many question to people who know the answers. Here are a few more answers: Jane Lafferty, daughter of Lorenzo Dow Lafferty and Elvira Criswell, married Samuel Rufas Harvey and had children Mary Harvey and Robert Glenn Harvey. William Robert Martin was born in 1856 in Tennessee. He married Sarah Lucinda Lafferty, who was born in 1865 in Texas. Sarah Lucinda Lafferty Martin was the daughter of John Annis Lafferty and Mary Hannah Lafferty.

They lived in Parker County, Texas, and later in Uvalde County in Texas. Merry Christmas to all of you and many thanks to everyone who helps out with this column and who are readily available to help all of our readers. We'll have one more column in this great year but thank you many times over, and haven't we all had a great 2006? It's been a year to remember. Kids opt for gift cards over-consumerism among kids," she says. Gift cards are practical for teens who "don't want you picking out a Christmas sweater for them." But for the Elmo and Dora set, they represent a "tyranny of choice that robs kids of innocence.

Where is that magical moment of opening a present?" Which is the other part of the problem, critics say: Those under 7 or 8 don't understand economic empowerment or "delayed gratification," says Dan Horne, a marketing professor at Providence College. If all a child receives is a stack of plastic, "I can see a kid being very disappointed." Retailers are trying to rectify the concerns by packaging gift cards with tangibles. This season, for example, Target offers an inflatable Santa, plush elephant and plastic Hello Kitty purse. By OLIVIA BARKER slightly depressing trend of USA TODAY Sure, they may not know the value of a penny, let alone a dollar. And, yes, they probably need Mom to drive them to the store.

But that's not stopping kids from getting the power to stock their own toy boxes from aunts and grandparents in the form of gift cards. This year's KidzEyes holiday survey found 30 percent of 6- to 8-year-olds preferred gift cards to traditional wrapped presents. It's a small proportion compared with their older siblings: 46 percent of those ages 9-11 and 68 percent of teens 15-17 opted for gift cards. Still, "it tells you how much kids want to have a say in what they're playing with," says Paul Metz of Research, the company that conducted the survey. (But parents police the ultimate decision: Last Christmas, Metz nixed his 6-year-old's desire to trade her Target gift card for Bratz dolls.) It scares moms such as Pilar Guzman, editor in chief of Cookie, the style-conscious parenting magazine.

Was there ever a time like this, When God' heart gift of bliss, Was held in such caring arms, And felt a Mother's kiss. Was there ever a year like this, Ordained by God to be, Right time for all earthly men, God's lamb, at last, to see. Was ever a maiden known, "Till Mary, chosen, blessed, Becomes Mother of God's Son. Holding Him to her breast.

Was ever a man so good, As Joseph, that special one, A man whom God could trust, As guard and guide to Son. Was ever a place as this, Where not one room was left, No space for birth of God's Son, Of welcome he was bereft. Was ever a sky like this, Holding a single star, Guiding the wise to find, Where all God's blessings are. Was ever eve so dark, "Till shepards beheld great light, Filled with great fright at sight, Angelic hosts so bright. There never or shall be, A night like there was then, When God gave His gift of Son, So we cold be born again! By Edna Merritt THANKSGIVING BLESSINGS If all the blessings we've received, From birth until today, Became the pearls that divers seek, Beneath the ocean's spray, There'd be no end to God's supply, Of pearls from just one day, Or treasure chests built large enough, To hold pearls for display.

If all the time God spared our lives, Or raised our spirits up, Became bright slabs of paving stones, To mark our every step, We'd find our feet have daily walked, On streets of precious ore, We need not wait for paradise, We've walked on gold before. If all the love we have received, Were gens that miners prize, We'd string an endless chain of jewels, To spread across the skies, To bear eternal witness to, The wealth of love we've known. Our diamond strand like stars on high, Lets God's great love be shown. Oh Lord, You are the great divine, The God of such surprise. You are the one who blesses us, With gifts before our eyes.

We stand in awe of your love, That's shown to us each day, We bow with joy before your throne, With thankful hearts we pray!
